South Africa's mines minister says Implats job cuts "reckless"
JOHANNESBURG, Aug 2 (Reuters) - South Africa's mines
minister has urged platinum producer Impala Platinum's
to reconsider its plans to slash its workforce by a third over
two years, calling the firms actions "careless".
"Their reckless actions add injury to insult," mines minister
Gwede Mantashe said in a statement, adding that Implats' plans
to cut 13,400 jobs was "a display of arrogance".
