APPOINTMENT OF AN INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
In compliance with JSE Limited Listings Requirement 3.59, MTN Group is pleased to
announce the appointment of Dr Khotso Mokhele as an Independent Non-Executive Director
to the board of directors of MTN Group (the “Board”), with effect from 01 July 2018.
Khotso holds a BSc (Agriculture), MSc (Food Science), PhD (Microbiology) and a number of
honorary doctorates from various institutions.
Khotso is currently the Chancellor of the University of the Free State, the Chairman of Tiger
Brands and AECI, the Lead Independent Non-Executive Director at Afrox Limited and a Non-
Executive Director of Hans Merensky Holdings (Pty) Limited.
His role in science is recognised internationally. He also represented South Africa on the
executive board of UNESCO and was awarded the Member Legion of Honour of the
Republic of France for his work in strengthening scientific ties between South Africa and
France.
The Chairman and the Board welcome Khotso and wish him all the best in his new role as
an Independent Non-Executive Director.
