AVAILABILITY OF CIRCULAR IN RESPECT OF PROPOSED ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
TRANSACTIONS

Sanlam shareholders are referred to the announcement released on the Stock Exchange News Service
of the JSE Limited on 31 October 2018 entitled “Positioning the South African operations for growth
through enhanced economic empowerment”, which indicated that a circular containing full details of the
proposed transactions (“the Circular”) will be made available to Sanlam shareholders in due course.

Shareholders are hereby advised that the Circular will be available on the Sanlam investor relations
website www.sanlam.com from 15:00 local South African time today.

Shareholders should note that the Circular is made available on the website for information purposes
only and will be distributed to Sanlam shareholders qualifying to receive the Circular by 12 November
2018. The distribution will be electronically to those Sanlam shareholders for which the Company has
an email address on record and through the post to other Sanlam shareholders.
