CHANGES TO THE BOARD

In compliance with paragraph 3.59 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, SPAR shareholders are
hereby advised that Mr Roelf Venter and Mr Wayne Hook will retire as executives of SPAR’s board of
directors (“Board”), with effect from 1 October 2019 and 31 December 2019, respectively.

Roelf joined the Company in 1983 and served in various marketing and buying management positions
before being appointed Managing Director of SPAR West Rand and, subsequently SPAR South
Rand. In 1999, he was appointed Marketing Director of SPAR and was appointed to the board in 2007
when he assumed the position of Retail Operations Director of the Company.

Wayne joined the Company in 1984 and served in financial, information technology and logistics
management positions before being appointed Managing Director of SPAR Kwa-Zulu Natal in 1997.
He was appointed to the Board in 2006 and served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Company
until 2014. Thereafter he served as the New Business and Support Services Director of SPAR and,
has held the position of Build it Managing Director since 2017.

The Board takes this opportunity to thank both Roelf and Wayne for their leadership and the
significant contribution which they have made to the Company and the Board over the past 36 years
and wish them both well in their retirement.
