EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CHANGES AND CHANGES TO ABSA GROUP AND ABSA BANK BOARDS
("THE BOARDS")

In accordance with paragraphs 3.59 and 6.39 of the JSE Limited Equity and Debt Listings Requirements,
respectively, shareholders are informed that Jason Quinn has resigned as Group Financial Director of Absa
Group and Absa Bank to take up an opportunity outside the Group. Jason will, accordingly, no longer be
an Executive Director on the Boards with immediate effect. The Boards thank Jason for his very significant
contribution to Absa since 2008 and wish him well in his future endeavours.

Shareholders are also informed that Chris Snyman will become Interim Group Financial Director of Absa
Group and Absa Bank with immediate effect, subject to regulatory approval. He will also become an
Executive Director on the Boards. Chris joined Absa in 2008 and is Head of Financial Decision Support, a
role which he has held for the last 10 years. He holds an Honours degree in Accounting from the University
of Stellenbosch and is a member of The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
