APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD


In compliance with section 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (“JSE”),
shareholders are advised of the appointment to the board, with immediate effect, of Mr Gerhard van
Emmenis, in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer.



Mr Van Emmenis joins the day-hospital group from Bonitas, where he served as principal officer after joining
the medical scheme in 2006 as chief operations officer. He holds several post-graduate qualifications in
healthcare, leadership, labour relations and industrial psychology.



He is a seasoned executive with experience spanning people and financial management, corporate
governance and marketing, and in-depth exposure to all facets of the healthcare industry.



Current Chief Executive Officer, Mr Carl Grillenberger, will step down, but will remain on the board as non-
executive director.



The board wishes Mr van Emmenis the best in his new position and thanks Mr Grillenberger for his competent
and inspiring leadership at the helm of not only the company, but the entire industry, as a pioneer of the
private-hospital sector.
