FATALITY AT KUSASALETHU

Johannesburg, Friday, 22 October 2021. Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited
(“Harmony” and/or “the Company”) regrets to advise that two employees were
fatally injured in the early hours of Thursday morning, following a seismic
event resulting in a fall of ground at its Kusasalethu mine, near Carletonville,
in the Gauteng province.

“The board, executives and management of Harmony are deeply saddened by this
tragic incident. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the families, friends and
colleagues of our deceased colleagues.” Peter Steenkamp, chief executive officer
of Harmony stated.

The relevant authorities and stakeholders have been informed. While mining
activity in the affected area has been stopped, safety shifts have also been
enforced across the mine, pending a formal investigation.
